I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and EMDR Certified Therapist specializing in child, adolescent, individual and family therapy, and I maintain a private practice in Claremont, CA.
With over 15 years experience working with children and teens in the mental health field, I am currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. I use a wide range of techniques including an interactive, humanistic, solution-focused approach, cognitive behavioral therapy, and strength based approaches. Additionally, I am certified in utilizing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy with both children and adults who have experienced trauma. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Among my areas of expertise are using both directive and non-directive play therapy with children and adolescents, trauma, depression, anxiety and grief/loss. I also enjoy working with children who may be experiencing academic difficulties, are diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or a learning disorder. Additionally, I enjoy working with college athletes; as a former college athlete and collegiate coach, I believe I understand the specific issues many athletes deal with (stress management, time management, performance anxiety, injuries, and identity issues) very well.
As a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, I especially enjoy working with young children and adolescents, and use both directive and non-directive play therapy techniques .
